Artist Statement

My work is an exploration of the beauty, complexity, and fragility found in the natural world. I am particularly fascinated by insects—their intricate forms, patterns, textures, and unexpected colors. Although they are often overlooked or dismissed, insects possess an incredible diversity of detail that continues to inspire me.

I create highly detailed, realistic sculptures using wax and mixed media. I strive to capture each insect as accurately as possible, paying close attention to anatomy, surface texture, color, and the small details that bring these creatures to life. Wax is an especially meaningful material for me because of its delicate and fragile nature. It allows the sculptures to suggest both the physical vulnerability of the insect and the broader fragility of the natural world.

Through my work, I hope to encourage viewers to slow down and look more closely at creatures they might otherwise pass by. By presenting these often-overlooked subjects at a scale and level of detail that invites close observation, I want to create a sense of curiosity, appreciation, and wonder.

My sculptures are not simply studies of insects; they are an attempt to preserve a fleeting moment of nature and draw attention to the extraordinary beauty that exists in even the smallest forms of life.
