Artist Statement
I have spent most of my life finding joy and satisfaction in the making of things. Creativity is both meditative and exhilarating for me and my artistic expression has included photography, painting, and ceramics for many years. I mostly exhibit my pottery work, which is the youngest of my art forms and one I continue to study through hand-building and throwing. I love how the clay moves and transforms its shape with the slightest pressure on the wheel.
I have taken ceramics courses at Truro Center for the Arts at Castle Hill and at La Meridiana International School of Ceramics in Tuscany. Pottery provides a life-long quest for improvement, with endless aspects to learn. All of my work is inspired by the profound beauty of nature - some overtly and some abstractly. I spend a lot of time in the woods and at the water’s edge and am grateful for, and awed by, the gorgeous little details and the enormous phenomenon that our precious environment provides for inspiration. I try to express that gratitude through my art.
