Statement - Failing to Trickle Down
The piece "Failing to Trickle Down" was created in response to the occupation of Wall St. a few years ago. It represents my rage at the economic system that creates such imbalance and unfairness in our culture. The building of such extreme wealth and power - and of how those go hand-in-hand - is the source of such extreme oppression of those at the bottom of the economic ladder. My artwork, in general, is not so literal and narrative usually - in fact I work in abstraction most of the time - but this piece is a clear expression of frustration and anger at the injustice perpetrated by greed and selfishness. I so appreciate this COA that allows us to submit our strong and most powerful expressions - so needed from artists right now.
