Artist Statement

First and foremost, joy, unadulterated joy. The feeling that you have somehow brightened someone’s day or uncovered a hidden window into nature’s gifts. The thrill of discovering beauty that exists beyond immediate perception. But also, it is the surge of happiness I get personally, camera in hand for hours on end as I revel in the sights all around us beckoning for me to capture and share.

Although I was always the one taking the family pictures, marking occasions and cherished memories, I never realized my passion until I got an iPhone. I am an avid walker enjoying the outside beauty of the areas I visit, any chance I get. After taking some cool and interesting shots on my walks with the iPhone 6 and then progressing through the upgrades, I finally made the plunge and purchased my first ‘real’ camera four years ago. My Canon Sure Shot opened a whole new world for me, and my passion began to take root and flourish. Once I stepped up to a DSLR in 2019 and took an adult-ed course on its use, I dove deeper into my craft by exploring the functionality and creativity of manual mode. Not that my passion has turned into an obsession, but I must say that I get unparalleled enrichment and contentment capturing life around us and sharing the moments in time and alternative perspectives with my loved ones and with you! I hope you can also explore the wonder I have discovered in colors/light/shadows/water/nature/wildlife and the simple, yet profound beauty this world freely serves to us all to enjoy.
