Artist Statement
I remember making art pre-kindergarten. I made it because it was what I needed to do. This need has not changed. The word artist was not in my vocabulary. Creating is what I continue to do. Repurposed materials persist, found wood and fabric become a painting surface and recycled paint a medium
My paintings and mixed-media works explore memory and personal narrative, inviting viewers to engage with the layered histories embedded in my compositions. My work experience with a combination of rehabilitation/art therapy and education brings sensitivity to the emotional and psychological dimensions of my subjects.
I exhibit nationally and have been recognized with numerous awards and grants. My work continues to evolve through ongoing participation in juried exhibitions, symposiums, and artist talks. My dedication to fostering community engagement through art, believing in its power to heal, share, is ongoing
My devotion to making art is lifelong.
