Artist Statement

STATEMENT: Ann Constance Guiliani www.annguilianiartist.com
Nature and the subtle changes of atmosphere, wind, or rain has been a source of inspiration for sometime.
I walk a short distance to Mayflower and Chapin Beach and observe the constant movement of water:
(its ebb and flow, and the tracks it leaves in the sand). Or I absorb the interaction of trees with the atmosphere and I am mesmerized. While these observations can evoke serenity, I am aware of the power of nature that can wreak devastation and disaster. It’s this kind of dichotomy that spurs me on. In the end, for me, any expression of nature speaks of something beyond us that borders on the spiritul. As a painter and printmaker, I am opened to many materials My approach to creating anything, also directs me to deconstruct as well as synthesize. For me, reality begets abstraction and the paradox is that abstraction brings me closer to the real world of experience.
