Artist Statement

I explore nature beyond the obvious. Patterns, rhythms, and organic shapes found in the natural world inspire me and age, transformation, and resilience are recurring themes in my work. My life experiences and adventures in nature whether S.C.U.B.A. diving, sailing across the ocean in a small boat, hiking and rafting the Grand Canyon, or walking in a local park, provide the catalyst for my paintings. Watercolor is my primary medium, and I have recently started to explore oils and acrylics as well. Plein air painting informs my abstractions. In my 80's, I continue to explore, expand and develop my ideas and work.
