I grew up with a mom who was an art teacher and was very fortunate to have been exposed to the art background and supplies we had available to us. My parents were encouraging and supportive of my many endeavors growing up. I spent as much time as I could in the art room in high school. It was there I first learned to use the potter's wheel. I had one of my own for 7 years, and then life took entirely different direction for the next 35 years.
It was within the last 10 years that I rekindled my fascination for pottery and before I knew it, I was being overrun with pots. An outlet was needed to find new homes for my pots and supporting my clay hobby.
I create hand thrown, functional, stoneware pottery, along with hand built items. My woodworking background has helped immensely, as I am able to fashion a lot of my own tools, molds and other things that I need.
I enjoy the entire creative process from an idea to the execution of it to the final piece. I mix all of my own glazes, and currently fire in an oxidation atmosphere to cone 7 or about 2260 degrees. It is always an adventure and a journey, and we will see where it leads.
