Artist Statement

The paintings I'm submitting for this exhibition explores what is hidden both personally and in society.

In my series , "Pancreatic Cancer" I wanted to show how it really feels to go through a devastating cancer diagnostics, from the patients point of view. Too often, those of us living with cancer hide our pain and fear to protect those who love us.

"RevMed" is a commission for the Biotech company, Revolucion Medicines based in Redwood City, CA. I was tasked with creating a painting that celebrated all the employees of this company whose mission is to cure cancer. This painting is bigger than the story of one biotech company. I also viewed this painting as a way to combat baffling anti-science that is raging in 2025. So much of the work of cancer researchers is rarely seen by the general public, out of view is the sheer number of diverse people, the complexity, interdependence, perseverance and expertise needed to make medical gains possible.

"Don't Take My Dad" narratives the for-too-long hidden consequences of the US immigration policies in 2025. Also the painting depicts the role cell phones are playing in our national narrative.
