After four successful years of the Art Expedition mobile gallery, Art Center of Waco is preparing for another year of sharing quality artwork with the community in Waco and surrounding areas through this innovative educational program. The gallery visits Waco and surrounding area schools as well as community arts and cultural events. We are seeking artworks to include in the 5th annual exhibition for the gallery this year with the theme Explore.
Explore is a verb; it has to do with the state of action, the continual need for investigation, progress, and understanding. Explore is defined in many ways -- primarily the action of travel in or through (an unfamiliar country or area) in order to learn about or familiarize oneself with it. Though we might not all be able to traverse the mystery of the Amazon Rainforest, we do in fact traverse the daily waters of life by asking 'why' and searching out answers. The etymology behind explore, is the Latin root explorare meaning to 'search out' via inquiry and discussion. As artists we often find ourselves questioning the world around us and searching out new ways to find inspiration. Our hope with this expedition is to open a dialogue with the community through art and help cultivate the desire to investigate unfamiliar territories and take action today!
Much has changed over the past year during 2020 and this has caused a renewed sense of unease. This has enkindled many to explore the fundamental concepts behind the human experience. Join us as we bring art to the community that encompasses everything from space exploration, self-exploration, voyages of discovery, destinations / travel and so much more! We will be looking for inventive approaches that consider the theme while demonstrating how it applies to you and your life experiences.
The exhibit will be de-installed, stored safely during transit, and re-installed before each visit, to ensure the safety of the artworks. The trailer is climate controlled and wheelchair accessible.
