State of Kentucky Photography Exhibition

Organization: Art Center of the Bluegrass Location Danville, KY Entry Fee Paid Entry Deadline March 1, 2019 Exhibition Apr 5 - Jun 14, 2019
The juror will be asked to select photographs that best represent the 'state' of Kentucky, both in terms of place as well as state of being.

To be eligible for this exhibition, a photograph must have been taken within the state of Kentucky (also known as the Commonwealth of Kentucky) by a photographer currently residing in KY (this includes college students who may be temporarily living in state while completing their degree). Both digital and film photography may be accepted into this exhibit. All work must be framed with hanging wire on the back in order to be displayed. All work must have been completed since January of 2015 and not previously shown in any other Community Arts Center exhibitions. All works must be for sale.

ABOUT THE JUROR:
Ed Lawrence has been making photographs since first receiving a Kodak Brownie flash camera for his ninth birthday. The hobby continued through film and darkroom days to our current digital era. His work can be found in public collections in Kentucky and privately throughout the country.

The book, Kentucky 120, a county-by county portrait of Kentucky landscape was photographed, authored, designed and published by Ed Lawrence in 2014, with a second printing in 2016.

Lawrence is retired from the Kentucky Arts Council and served as arts marketing director for most of his
career. He currently hosts the TV show Art with Ed on Frankfort Community Television. Ongoing projects include photographing Woods and Water Land Trust sites in the lower Kentucky River watershed and Japanese Gardens in America.

Ed Lawrence is an advocate of all forms and approaches to the art of photography.

Selected works will be on display at the Community Arts Center Friday, April 5 - Friday, June 14. An opening reception for exhibiting artists will be held on Friday, April 12, 5:30-7:00 p.m. We hope you'll join us!
