Flo Oy Wong's 75 x 75 x 75

'75x75x75' is a working title, it refers to my 75th birthday at which time I am inviting 75 community artists to make 75 art pies to celebrate. (** Please note that the title has been changed to 'The Whole Pie...' **)

Tasty delicious pies of all sorts are distinctive American culinary icons. All Americans, diverse as we are, are familiar with the role pies have played in our food lives. Who doesn't have a memory of biting into a juicy apple pie laced with cinnamon and sugar? Or a lemon meringue pie, tart and sweet, at the same time?

As a contemporary artist I have been making textile pies to savor the extraordinary narratives of ordinary people. Sometimes these stories oftentimes deconstruct stereotypes, which allow us to move forward in our collective lives.

In celebration of my 75th birthday in November of 2013 I invite you to make an art pie in any media that either tell the extraordinary story of an ordinary person or address the deconstruction of stereotypes that have impeded our lives.

These pies, which will allow us to recognize the tartness and sweetness of our collective lives, will be included in 75x75x75, an exhibit that will take place at the Luggage Store Gallery in San Francisco, California in November of 2013.

--Artist MUST RSVP to APICC Admin: Khay Hembrador: [email protected] by June 1st, 2013 (** Note: New Admin: Jennifer Bequio; [email protected] **)

--Artist agrees to provide a resume, bio/statement, and a jpeg.

--Artwork must be delivered to The Luggage Store Gallery from dates **Oct 12th to Oct 26th**, ready to hang. Please include instructions on whether your pie must be horizontal on a surface or hang vertically**.

--Artwork must be non-edible, between 9 inches in diameter up to (but not larger than) 12 inches in diameter

--Pies can be made in any medium: paintings, drawings, sculpture, photo, textile, video, digital etc.

-- The artist will upload a jpeg of work-in-progress (72ppi for web or 300 dpi for print) with their submission ASAP.

-- Artist understands and agrees that jpegs and images will be used for the website to promote the exhibition and for press coverage.

-- Artist will provide links to their websites. Artist will acknowledge and help promote benefit through personal social media networks e.g. Facebook, twitter, blogs.
