ACCI Gallery in Berkeley, CA Calls for Entries for a juried exhibition of two-dimensional work interpreting the title “Boundaries and Balance”.
The theme is inspired by the work of Russian artist Kazimir Malevich who, in 1913, created a painting titled Black Square which is said to have been the first painting that wasn’t about a thing or of a thing; rather, it focused on the square, which is by its geometric nature, always in balance. A painting within a square format challenges the inherent static balance of the form with its own dynamic balance within the shape. ACCI encourages artist of all media and subject matter to apply!
All works must be 12” by 12” and protrude no more than 3” from the wall.
