Show Working Title : Before, During, or After
Jurors : Eugenie Hsu, Robert Abrams
We would like to see and hear artistic expressions that mark time in a meaningful way. For example, the artwork could express:
Temporal narratives (including time of day with light and shadows, events or seasons);
Emotions of personal experiences at a point in time or through time;
Historical context (before, during, or after historical events);
Transformation (physical, aging, self-awareness, social movements, nature, politics, etc.)
Artists will be selected based on artistic merit and how well the artwork adheres to the theme of the show. All are welcome to apply and we welcome a diversity of artists with varying levels of experience, backgrounds, media, ages, genders, ethnic affiliations, etc.
We are accepting 2-D and 3-D visual artworks of all media. We are also accepting video recordings of spoken word performance art (original poetry, stories, monologues, etc.). We are accepting up to 2 artworks per artist. Artworks must be original and created in the last 24 months. In order for the show to accept more entries with respect to the gallery space, see below for size and time restrictions:
2-D art may not exceed 24'x24'. Accepted artworks must be ready-to-hang.
3-D art may not exceed a 10'x10' footprint.
Spoken word performance may not exceed 5-minutes in duration and must be family-friendly in material.
Finalists who are selected will have their visual artworks on display at Abrams-Claghorn Gallery from April 2-27, 2025. There will be a reception on April 12 and spoken word artists will be invited to perform at the gallery during the evening of the reception. All visual artworks must be offered for sale with the sale proceeds distributed 50/50 between the artist and the gallery.
